Delhi Karnataka Sangha - an introduction

Delhi Karnataka Sangha was conceived just after the independence of India by eminent Kanndigas like Sri A V Pai, Sri S R S Raghavan, Sri K R S Acharya, Sri Y K Murthy, Sri H S Ranghaswamy, Sri K S Patil, Sri G M Kulkarni, Sri K R Potdat, Sri B S Dasharathi, Sri Shama Rao and others.

The first prominent function was the celebration of the India's first Independence day with Bapuji's photo at the head of 20-25 Kannadiga's procession along the Parliament Street.

Since then the Sangha has seen and grown with the nation and it is said that the life & growth of the Sangha has been inter woven with the main stream of national life & its resurgence.

The Sangha has been busy in carving out for itself a special position in the state's as well as capital's art, cultural and literary life. 

A summary of the introduction is compiled as :

 

History of Delhi Karnataka Sangha :

* First committee formed in 1948

* Sri Narahari Rao first President

* First function was India's Independence day celebration

* first registered as literary & cultural organisation in 1953

* first building of the Sangha inaugurated by Sri B D Jatti , the then Acting President of India in 1977

* Sangha recognised as a charitable trust under Section 12(A) of the Indian Income Tax Act

* ABHIMATA, a monthly literary periodical was launched in 1990

* New Cultural Complex inaugurated on April 16, 2005
